2023 went by in a flash, but it gave us some fantastic movies to binge-watch. This was the year of superheroes that transported us to the fictional world. While some were to be released, others created a storm at the box office. From Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to The Flash, lets see a list of superhero movies released in 2023.
1. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
This year's first superhero movie began Marvel Cinematic Universe's intiation into the multiverse saga. Headlined by Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, Ant-Man and the Wasp was well received by MCU fans.It also introduced Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors, the MCU's new big baddie throughout the multiverse saga.
2. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3
The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise returned after a six-year hiatus, and it instantly took all superhero fans on a fictional ride. The James Gunn directorial brought together the original cast of the movie before the new team was formed.
3. Spider Man: Across the Spider Verse
Sony's first 2023 superhero movie, Spider Man Across the Spider-Verse, released in theaters on June 2. This was an animated version of the movie with a plot that pleasantly surprised all the Spider-Man fans.
4. The Flash
Another blockbuster superhero movie was released in 2023 when Warner Bros. finally unveiled The Flash. First announced in 2014, the much-anticipated solo movie for Barren Allen was directed by IT fame, Andy Muschietti.While the trailer for The Flash looked promising, the film was received averagely after its release.
5. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
The final upcoming superhero movie of 2023 brings Jason Momoa back as Arthur Curry. The sequel to a surprise 2018 blockbuster finally releases on December 25.While most of the cast of Aquaman is the same, it will be interesting to see if Amber Heard (Mera) makes it to the final cut. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is believed to be the last of the DCEU films.
